MSU IC will participate in Giving Tuesday on November 29th, a global day of philanthropy that kicks off the charitable season by encouraging individuals, communities and organizations around the world to come together to celebrate and encourage giving.
MSU IC’s goal is to raise $5,000 for MSU Women in Entrepreneurship (WE), a student organization formed with the aim of inspiring and empowering women interested in entrepreneurship, as many women and underrepresented groups often feel discouraged from engaging in student entrepreneurship activities. At MSU, only roughly one out of every ten student teams that work with The Hatch, an MSU student-business incubator, are led by women and/or underrepresented leaders. WE strives to combat this trend by sharing how entrepreneurship means integrating talents of those with diverse interests rather than being exclusive to a particular major, gender, or race.
Through their Giving Tuesday project, MSU IC hopes to help WE members to participate in the 2017 Female Founders Conference in San Francisco, CA. The conference is a prestigious professional development opportunity that brings together more than 800 women entrepreneurs for a day of networking, breakout sessions, and distinguished guest speakers. Funds from the project will cover travel costs such as airfare and lodging for WE members participating in the conference.
