Introducing Katie James, the newest addition to the MSU Technologies Tech Managers team. Joining the team on January 8th, 2024, as a Technology Transfer Fellow, Katie’s primary role consists of assisting tech managers in evaluating physical sciences technology disclosures.
A proud alumna of Oakland University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Katie’s academic journey has been complemented by her personal achievements, including her recently completed Ph.D. in Chemistry. After graduating with a Ph.D. in Bioinorganic Chemistry from Duke University in December 2023, Katie’s cross-disciplinary knowledge provides her with a broad background that will contribute to her role at the MSU Innovation Center.
Prior to her current position, Katie gained invaluable experience as an intern in the tech transfer office at Duke University, where she assessed incoming technology disclosures and prepared marketing material for technologies ready for licensing.
Beyond her professional life, Katie balances her free time with hobbies like crocheting, baking, and staying active through running. In her personal life, she finds joy in spending quality time with her husband, Matthew, and their two dogs, Tilly (a Rough Collie) and Zoe (a Great Pyrenees mix).
As Katie embarks on this exciting journey of her career, her commitment, dedication, and passion for tech transfer make her a valuable asset to the team, contributing to MSU Technologies’ success and exciting advancements ahead.
