Jon Debling joined MSU Technologies as a Technology Manager in August 2020. Jon works with faculty and researchers in areas that include biomedical engineering, biosystems engineering, chemical engineering and material science, chemistry, geological sciences, nursing and the James Madison College.
Prior to joining MSUT, Jon spent over 20 years in industry in various roles. He spent a decade with S.C. Johnson/Johnson Polymer in Wisconsin developing polymer products for coatings, adhesives, printing inks, packaging and plastics. He worked 9 years with BASF Corporation in Michigan, advancing to the position of principal scientist and focused on new technology development, product commercialization and IP strategy. He spent 4 years in Ohio managing the North American Automotive Refinish R&D activities where he was responsible for identifying and assessing opportunities, establishing and managing external collaborations and developing the innovation pipeline.
Jon holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Waterloo – Canada and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. His research has been published in more than 25 scientific publications/conference proceedings and holds multiple US and international patents.
