Recycled Plastic

Plastic Recycling

Research Goal

Dealing with plastic waste is an important part of protecting our environment and ensuring a sustainable future. Our faculty are exploring new ways to recycle or upcycle plastic waste to reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in our landfills, oceans, and other natural environments. Additionally, ongoing research at MSU is exploring ways to make plastics biodegradable to prevent the harmful effects of plastic waste on the environment and human health.

Plastic can be recycled and upcycled into a variety of new products, including packaging, furniture, insulation, building materials, and even clothing. Our faculty at MSU are exploring new methods of plastic recycling not only to increase the number of plastics eligible to be recycled but are discovering new methods of chemical recycling and extrusion that produce stronger, more durable recycled materials.

The innovations in plastic recycling made here at MSU are helping to build a sustainable future.  Partner with MSU and together we can help protect our environment and reduce the amount of plastic waste that harms our natural environment.
