Ray joined MSU Technologies as a technology manager in July 2011. He oversees the identification, evaluation, and commercialization of institutional intellectual property in the computer and physical science areas as well as for the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory and the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams.

Ray has extensive experience in university IP commercialization, industrial IP protection, and industrial research and product development. Prior to joining MSUT, he was director of the Technology Commercialization Office at Utah State University. In his career in industry, he served as director of research for Siemens Medical Systems, CEO for Mosaic Imaging Technologies, and director of detector technology at Constellation Technology Corporation.

Ray holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from Rutgers University and a Ph.D. in physics from Michigan State University. He did his doctoral thesis in experimental nuclear physics at the MSU Cyclotron Laboratory. He is a registered patent agent.
