Spartan Innovations & LEAP Announce participants for the new Lansing Regional SBIR + MedTech Accelerator

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Spartan Innovations announces its inaugural cohort for the Lansing Regional SBIR + MedTech Accelerator in cooperation with Lansing Economic Area Partnership.

Designed to support high-tech, high-growth medical technology companies in the Lansing region, the SBIR + MedTech Accelerator is a 12-week virtual program that will run this fall. The cohort will be coached on how to prepare and submit SBIR/STTR grants and pre-SBIR grants (MTRAC, Advance, PFI and others) to an appropriate Federal agency.

“We have nine teams accepted into the SBIR + MedTech Accelerator,” said Frank Urban, director of life sciences at Spartan Innovations. “They are working on technologies that span the sectors of the medical technology industry. Each team is looking at solving a different problem related to the health care field, from recruitment to therapeutics, solving real-world problems with novel, high-tech ideas. We are excited to be a part of their story at such a pivotal part of their journey.”

“LEAP is incredibly excited to partner with Spartan Innovations on this new accelerator program, which is part of the larger medtech strategy our region is developing with the $1.07 million grant LEAP received from the Economic Development Administration (EDA),” said Bob Trezise, president and CEO of LEAP. “This type of funding, and the resulting entrepreneurial programming, has a high impact across our region by bringing innovative ideas to market that help advance health care in our community and beyond.”
